Raphaels Bank is looking for an Underwriter who will be based at its Bolton office, within the Bank’s Lending division.

Reporting to the Office Manager, the successful candidate will proactively assist the day to day running of the Northern Division New Business credit application, underwriting in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company.

Please note: This role is Tuesday - Saturday working from 9am - 5pm.


·Underwrite and when required, assist with processing and administration of both New Business and Repeat Business in accordance to approved limits & within company criteria.

·Assist the Divisional and Office management in the smooth and effective running of the businesses Bolton based operation.

·Actively promote a positive, dealer and customer friendly environment within the New Business Department.

·Maintain positive business relationships between the New Business departments and third parties.

·Partake in regular team meetings to enable effective two way communication within department.

·Understand all products and services the Company has at its disposal.

·Maintain proposal and underwriting workflows.

·Ensure service standards for proposal replies are met at all times.

·Continually look at ways to improve underwriting processes and procedures within the company.

·Carry out any ad hoc duties if required.


·Experience working in a regulated environment carrying out a role within banking, lending and/or finance.

·Experience within a credit based sales and customer service focused role underwriting credit applications and working within a team.

·Awareness and understanding of FCA regulatory obligations including TCF, Conduct Risk and Vulnerable Customers.

·Good understanding of Data Protection Act & Anti Money Laundering regulations.

·Good understanding of consumer credit law.

·Complaints Procedures + Procedures manual knowledge.

·Knowledge of appropriate office computer systems desirable.

·Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers & business connections.

·Good organisation, presentation and planning skills.
