Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

£32,000 - £35,000

Gravesend, Kent.

3 shift: 6:00am - 2:00pm | 2:00pm - 10:00pm | 10:00pm - 6:00am

This role reports to the Engineering Manager

Main purpose of job:

To assist the Engineering team to effectively deliver the Company’s objectives by overseeing the safe and effective use and maintenance of plant and machinery.

Duties to include:

·Preventative and reactive maintenance on machines and equipment to meet the requirements of the business.

·Involvement with new design, modification, installation and movements of existing machines.

·Overhaul and repair of machines and equipment.

·Ensuring machines and equipment on site are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.

·Where a detailed specification is not provided, determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost effective solution to remedy the defect.

Effective communication – keeping Management and relevant parties aware and seeking advice and assistance when required. Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the grading of theResponsibilities for Equipment/Tools. Post holder will be expected to provide their own general hand tools. The Company will provide specialist tools and equipment as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Personally demonstrate full commitment to Health and Safety through words and actions.Interface with all levels of factory personnel and central engineering functions as required.Undertake repairs, maintenance and installations to the highest standard and cost-effectiveness in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications encompassing mechanical and electrical disciplines.Carry out Preventative MaintenanceAssist with the installation of new machines and equipment. Electrical installation. Work with and install single phase / three phase electrical circuits.Actively promote safe working practices. Fault finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings,fixtures and parts.To ensure that any parts, materials or equipment required to effectively carry out work-related duties are put through the Company’s purchasing system and to monitor the use of such materials to support a well maintained plantMonitor and support the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management SystemEnsure effective communication and reporting to the Engineering Manager and other relevant parties both verbally and electronically using designated reporting procedures.


To actively contribute to company objectives and values. To adhere to Company Rules / Health and Safety / Environmental standards,To attend training and continuous development opportunities as required. Ensure continuous improvements to the engineering service and existing processes and for effective good practice within their role. To be prepared to work shifts, work overtime, be on standby and respond to call outs as required in line with the remit of the post. Ability to work as part of a team.Application Process:
