These roles are in the Solicitor’s Office and Legal Operations Directorate of HMRC. The team is a busy litigation team dealing with appeals before the First Tier Tribunal (Tax) including litigation arising from legislation passed by Parliament in the Finance Act 2014 – the Accelerated Payments legislation. The successful lawyer will be responsible for their own caseload. Our key stakeholders are HMRC officers working in policy, technical and operational teams. The work is subject to time pressure and the majority of challenges proceed to a hearing. Cases are required to be kept in good order with all litigation and internal deadlines met.
2 to 4 years litigation experience. Proven experience in managing own litigation caseload. Experience of specific area of litigation not required but knowledge of public law an advantage.
LPC/BVC/BPTC qualified lawyer (barrister or solicitor) Degree level 2:1 minimum. A minimum of 2 years’ PQE
