Data Architect

A leading public sector organisation require an Enterprise Data Architect to define and manage all enterprise data in the organisation.

  • Reporting to the Head of Applications and Development, the Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for the creation, development, maintenance and communication of the enterprise data architecture strategy road map for corporate data systems.
  • The Enterprise Data Architect will be responsible for the definition, design, development, maintenance and governance of the strategies, architectures and standards related to the logical and physical components of corporate data architecture.
  • The post holder will work with key business representatives, the Production DBA Lead, Business Intelligence Lead, GIS Lead, other Enterprise Architects and Developers, providing advice, communicating risks and concerns, and ensuring that corporate data architecture, and ICT programmes impacting it, adhere to appropriate standards. The Enterprise Data Architect will be required to consider our existing and target data strategies, architectures and standards; evaluate new and innovative technical capabilities and recommend / implement (in accordance with our architectural governance process) changes to corporate data strategy, architecture and standards.

Required Skills/ Experience

  • Extensive experience as an Enterprise Data Architect or as a Data Architect on major ICT programmes of work, with a deep subject matter expertise in database management system, data warehousing and data analytics, Extensive experience of designing complex data integration, storage and management solutions that operate on the core technologies of large organisations;
  • Proven ability to create end-to end enterprise data designs that include, but are not limited to, Oracle / Microsoft services and solutions;
  • Extensive experience in multidimensional data modelling, such as star schemas, snowflake normalised and de normalised models, handling 'slow-changing' dimensions / attributes;
  • Sound understanding of relational database system management principles, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence concepts and best practices;

Salary + Benefits

  • Salary £62,000
  • 35 hours per week
  • Flexi Time- Office open- 7am- 6pm, Core hours 10-3:30
  • Excellent Public Sector Pension
  • 28 days holiday + 6 bank holidays
  • Head office is in Glasgow, but a strong candidate can be based in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Glenrothes, Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow
