Lead Architect (Enterprise/Solution/Integration) - 6 Month Contract - Banking

Rate: £600 to £635 per day

Location: London

The Role:

A Lead Architect is urgently required by a leading Financial Services organisation, with responsibility for both establishing and maintaining the enterprise architecture, developing and promoting the strategic, business-aligned architectural direction and working closely with delivery teams, ensuring adherence to both the strategy and architecture. The role will require a blend of both Enterprise Architecture and Solution Architecture

The role will work closely with the Central Bank Enterprise Architect, the Business teams, the Delivery and Development Teams and the Technology Group to create and execute a technology road map that delivers key strategic business initiatives whilst ensuring all architectural roadmaps and designs adhere to the Enterprise Architecture direction.

As the Lead Architect, you will be required to understand a current landscape, map out the capability gaps, process maps, envision a target landscape and engage in delivery.


  • Determining the Enterprise Architecture for the business unit, incorporating a variety of architectural viewpoints, including integration, data, application.

  • Help the business unit achieve its strategic targets by assessing the "As-Is" state, developing the Target architecture and a series of transitions architectures to be delivered over a 3-5 year timescale.

  • Influence and manage technical delivery from our clients System Integrators as required

  • Establishing business unit design authority(s) to ratify technical changes

  • Contribute to bank wide enterprise architecture

  • Defining architecture that drives simplicity and identifying potential for re-use as "bank-wide" services.

Essential Experience

  • Solid experience as a Solution Architect preferably within Financial Services but not essential

  • Systems Integration design.

  • Solution Architecture (Business, Application, Technology, Data)

  • Architecture modelling using tools such as Enterprise Architect, Architmate, Visio.

  • Understanding of project approaches (Agile, Waterfall, V-Model)

  • Practical understanding of Enterprise/Solution Architecture (TOGAF)/SOA

  • An Innovative, creative thinker with a flexible approach to Architecture and Development.

  • Effective, concise communicator, comfortable presenting at senior stakeholder level.

  • Translating complex architectural issues and details for Executive Members and non-technical business teams.
