Infrastructure Automation / DevOps Engineer

Our client (a fast-growing property search platform with global ambitions) is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with a focus on Software Deployment, Automation and Cloud Platforms. As the first DevOps engineer in the team you will have a responsibility for fostering the ‘DevOps culture’ and methodology within the organisation as well as the technology shifts required to enable better collaboration between the development and infrastructure operations functions of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • - Reviewing current AWS-based infrastructure platform (and re-architecting from ground up if required)
  • - Assisting with migration to containerised architecture (Docker)
  • - Creating an effective CI/CD pipeline within the organisation
  • - Configuring Monitoring and Deployment toolset in a standardised manner across the estate
  • - Fostering DevOps culture and training both functions within the business on best practices

Required Skillset

  • - Linux SysAdmin
  • - Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS
  • - Experience with AWS Platform (design, configuration and maintenance)
  • - Containerisation technologies (preferably Docker – use of Docker Swarm within an AWS environment particularly useful)
  • - Delivery Pipeline creation experience (preferably with Jenkins)
  • - Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible/Puppet/Chef)
  • - Software Development lifecycle practices experience (Agile/Lean methodologies)
  • - Strong Scripting skillset (Shell, Python, Ruby)
  • - Monitoring tools such as CloudWatch or NewRelic
  • - Awareness of security and data protection best practices

Bonus Skills

  • - Experience of starting/building a smaller DevOps team into a mature IT function
  • - Strong Communication Skills – ‘teacher/consultant’ mentality
  • - ELK Stack
  • - SonarQube, Rabbit MQ,
  • - Git
  • - PHP

Salary: 50-65k (Dependant on experience and Sponsorship requirements)
