Senior Certification Engineer - Portsmouth - Competitive Salary

Shorterm Group are currently recruiting for a Senior Certification Engineers to work for a global business based in Portsmouth working within their Office of Airworthiness.

The role:

As part of the Office of Airworthiness, the Senior Certification Engineer will perform certification tasks to secure EASA airworthiness approval for parts and sustain the companies EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation Approval (DOA), providing continued leadership in general aviation for aircraft and engine performance and reliability improvements.


*Produce certification packages and deliver to regulatory authorities to achieve product certifications
*Create and check the DOA certification documents and data.
*Produce performance and progress reports
*Support maintenance of the company's Design Organisation Handbook procedures with respect to regulatory changes.
*Prepare for EASA DOA Surveillance and company ISM Audits and complete resulting actions when required.
*Generate Statement of Work packages for outsourced tasks for the support of certification activities.
*Produce Quotation of certification task durations and cost.
Main Duties:
*Prepare packages of DOA documents and substantiation data for the certification of major design changes via EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) application and minor design/repair changes approved by the companies.DOA.
*co-ordinate certification activities with EASA for new and existing STC major design change projects.
*Work directly with EASA in various areas such as aircraft certification, regulatory changes, flight standards, inspections and continued airworthiness.
*Co-ordinate certification activities as required, including flight test activities with a nominated Flight Test Organisation to support an EASA STC application.
*Create and check DOA documents (including certification reports, accomplishment instructions, manual supplements and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness.)
*Support maintenance of the Design Organisation Handbook and associated procedures.
*Maintain DOA records, engineering files and company records.
*Interface with company staff (including the Part 21 Subpart G Production Organisation), EASA, customers/operators and external suppliers/sub-contractors to support certification requirements affecting design specifications, production processes and testing for demonstrations of compliance.
*Develop knowledge of the company's product lines that fall within the Terms of Approval.
*Support department Continuous Improvement activities.


*Essential Qualifications/Education:
*Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering Bachelors Degree (BEng/BSc).
*MS Office.
*Experience with Catia V5 CAD and SmarTeam PDM systems is desired but not essential.
*Essential Previous Experience:
*Experience in EASA DOA certification process for design and repair changes to Large Aeroplanes and Rotorcraft.
*Aerospace New Product Introduction

You will also need the following:

*Current driving licence
*Working hours to suit certification projects and activities as required.
*Be prepared to travel abroad at short notice.
*Deliver customer presentations
*Give technical / NPI / Manufacturing / Product Support out of hours support as required.
