Head of IT

Mane are exclusively recruiting on behalf of a financial services company based in the Midlands for a Head of IT to join them on a permanent basis. This is an exciting time to join going through an exciting change project and are growing there technology division.
With the support of the infrastructure and support services teams, you will ensure a stable, reliable IT service is provided to the company, with appropriate security, back-up and recovery plans in place. Managing a team of technical staff, you will ensure IT projects are delivered and drive continuous improvement.

As Head of IT you will be responsible for:
*With the support of the infrastructure and support services teams
oMonitoring and management of the network (LAN/WAN), ensuring capacity, availability and connectivity
oConfiguration, connectivity and quality of the server estate, implementing virtualisation where appropriate. Appropriately manage and monitor all assets, identifying preventative and corrective actions to ensure business continuity. This includes environment maintenance such as server rooms, cable management, temperature and power
oManage the necessary licensing agreements to ensure all software and services are appropriately and cost effectively licenced
oEnsure from a IT perspective the business is effectively covered for the backup and recovery of all necessary data, devising, implementing and testing the relevant procedures
oImplementation and management of the necessary security software, tools and policies to protect data, systems and services as well as its users and clients
oManage the MFD estate throughout the business, ensuring connectivity and necessary integration
oManage of the mobile, landline and unified communications estate, ensuring availability and effect issue management/escalation
*Manage the support and infrastructure teams, devising and managing their career progression paths, training plans and appraisals
*Manage the IT policies and procedures, maintaining an appropriate framework
*Identify and communicate areas of continuous improvement both within IT and the wider business in terms of process efficiency, cost reduction and value add
*Identify areas of risk, working with the relevant parties to communicate, mitigate and manage corrective and preventative actions
*Appoint and manage cost-effective suppliers, providing the necessary information and due diligence, and manage the IT supplier base
*Support the stakeholders in the management of the IT budget, providing the necessary information and cost control activities
*Support the implementation of reporting tools to provide the business with the required business intelligence information from the various IT systems throughout the group
*Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies, assessing where possible their relevance and benefit to the business
*Ensure that all Business Applications and Client Solutions applications throughout the group are effectively supported and any issues are appropriately escalated.
*Provide a stable, reliable IT service
*All IT projects are managed effectively using a recognised methodology to deliver on time, within budget and to the expected level of quality.
*All aspects of the IT operation comply to the standards required by relevant governing bodies

As Head of IT you will have the following background:
*IT related degree or equivalent work experience
*Significant, demonstrable experience managing effective IT Teams and IT operations
*Experience of managing complex infrastructure projects
*Significant, demonstrable experience of delivering IT projects on time, within budget and to required levels of quality
*Experience of supplier management
*Experience of process re-engineering
*Good all-round knowledge of IT and IT governance
*Excellent communicator
*Good leadership skills
*Keen interest in emerging technologies
