Currently searching for an opportunity as a Design Engineer? Keen to work within a niche Automotive environment with an emphasis on Motorsport ? If so, Assystem have the perfect opportunity for you!

Assystem are currently recruiting on behalf of our high profile automotive manufacturer for a Motorsport Design Engineer. Joining their team of experienced design engineers, you will focus your efforts on the Design of components and body packaging and the maintenance of project ownership. Working at their site in Surrey, you will be working on a contract basis.

The Design Engineer role will be responsible for the design and release of components on a varying vehicle platform. Reporting to the Lead Designer, working on all aspects of Vehicle delivery on our future Motorsport vehicle programmes

* Project ownership from conceptual phase through to track sign off.
* Liaison with Race Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics to understand system performance and development direction.
* Body packaging, concept studies and detailed design.
* Liaison with the rest of the design and engineering community, suppliers, manufacturing engineering and R&D team.
* Build support (prototype and production)
* Represent the department in design reviews and during test and development activities if required.
* Design components to the lowest feasible weight.
* Coordinate design work to deliver timely design releases meeting all design for manufacture input from suppliers.
* With particular respect to carbon composites technology, contribute to the continuous improvement and further development of CAD modelling and product definition techniques.

To be considered for the role of Design Engineer - Motorsport our client is ideally looking for the following:
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

* Proficient in the use of CATIA V5 Degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Aeronautical engineering discipline.
* Motorsport design and aerodynamics model design experience.
* Familiarity with the latest GT technical regulations.
* Understanding of GT series race car mechanical systems and layout.
* Understanding of typical design methodologies, manufacturing techniques and the pre-fit and set-up process used on GT cars.
To meet with current legislation, right to work checks will be carried out to ensure candidates are able to work within the UK.
