Management Accounts Assistant - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 + benefits (28 days holiday + bank holiday, pension)

We have a great opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join the Management Accounts Team in Wilmslow on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract covering Maternity.

The purpose of the role is to provide financial control / accounts support to Group Technology and Change division within the Group.

  • Assist in the production of the monthly Expense Report, highlighting variances to budget with supporting explanations to clearly explain the underlying reasons behind the figures.
  • Assist in the month-end process routines, including accruals & prepayments
  • Directly responsible for key areas of spend.
  • Identify, analyse and critically evaluate more complex expense base issues, preparing a summary of findings, together with recommendations.
  • Support Planning & Analysis Accountant in seeking new ways of adding value to the cost management of key departments, and improving expense culture in the business
  • Undertake ad hoc projects with the team as and when required

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience within a similar accounts / finance role ideally with Management Accounts support experience
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office software package - in particular Excel
  • Numerate and excellent problem solving skills
  • Managing workloads, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Ability to liaise with internal & external stakeholders
  • Willing to learn about life and pensions products.
  • Studying for an accounting qualification would be beneficial
