We are Danaher & Walsh, a highly successful Civil Engineering and Plant Hire Group. With nearly 50 years’ experience in the hire of plant machinery, we operate a modern fleet of plant from a range of top manufacturers. Now, we’re looking for a Plant Manager to join us in Syston.
As the Plant Manager, you will develop and oversee the Plant Hire Department.
In this new role, you’ll manage one of the largest and most modern construction plant fleets in the Midlands. Our plant includes excavators, mini-diggers, backhoe loaders, dumpers, dump trucks, rollers and breakers from quality manufacturers including Caterpillar, Volvo, Kubota, JCB, Terex, Thwaites, Bomag, and Atlas Copco.
Overseeing a team of 17, you’ll lead by example and champion our core values of honesty and integrity in all your dealings with customers, suppliers and staff.
You’ll lead the strategic development of the department and facilitate new business opportunities by building long-lasting relationships with key contacts and customers within the construction industry.
Additionally, your duties will involve:
- Overseeing recruitment activities
- Ensuring that all plant is utilised to maximum efficiency
- Arranging for the timely delivery of all the plant, in the best possible condition
- Co-ordinating the additional hire of plant if it can’t be supplied by Danaher & Walsh
- Carrying out regular site visits to ensure that customer satisfaction is achieved
- Managing the annual plan for plant replacements
To be considered, you will need:
- Previous experience in a plant management role
- Management experience
- A full driving licence
Adaptable and proactive, as the Plant Manager, you’ll take pride in your work and will be able to effectively multi-task to meet deadlines. You’ll also be a confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
Ideally, you will have a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), but this is not essential. Proficiency in software packages such as MS Office and Syrinx or similar would also be beneficial.
