An opportunity has come up for three temps to join my social housing clienton a 2 to 3 month contract working in a busy Accounts Payable team. This role will entail processing a high volume of invoices as well as dealing with supplier and internal queries.

Working as part of the Group Payments function and reporting into one of the Senior Payment Officers, the Payment Officer will:

  • Match invoices to purchase orders and process supplier invoices and credit notes
  • Meet and exceed targets and deadlines
  • Advise and support internal and external stakeholders
  • Resolve customer queries effectively
  • Reconcile supplier accounts
  • Provide a first-class customer service experience.

Knowledge/Experience/ Skills required:


  • Previous experience of working in a busy Accounts Payable team
  • Experience of dealing with high volumes of data
  • Fast and accurate keyboard skills
  • Ability to provide a first-class customer service experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Understanding of Outlook including task management
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on their own initiative


  • Some knowledge of VAT rates and regulations
  • Knowledge of Sun accounting systems
  • Awareness of the importance of financial control
  • Previous experience of working in the 3rd sector
