Position: Maintenance Facilitator
Shift: Days 8am till 4:30pm / Early finish on Friday 2pm
Earnings: £30,000 up to £35,000
Pension, Generous holiday
Location: High-Peak

The maintenance planner is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all planned maintenance work within the production areas. The maintenance planner will maintain dialogue between the production value streams and maintenance departments and maintain appropriate records for reporting result of completed maintenance work.


1) Is the primary point of contact between the maintenance department and production departments and ensures that these areas receive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance function and ensures, through the support of the maintenance manager that the maintenance department is given all reasonable opportunities to provide this service.
2) Creates new planned maintenance schedules in conjunction with the maintenance manager and value stream engineers
3) Reviews and screens all work order requests from the value streams to ensure that requests are relevant and have been filled out properly to ensure basic information such as fault descriptions, priority and requested completion dates are realistic
4) Reviews at regular intervals with value stream engineer’s actual labour hours versus estimated labour and materials used for completed work as a form of gap analysis to improve estimation accuracy and working methods
5) Maintains all necessary records and files for the purposes of audits and prepares/distributes meaningful and accurate KPI reports
6) Trains and coaches maintenance staff on the correct use and application of the site CMMS system.
7) Attends weekly production planning meetings and participates in the overall weekly planning of the following weeks work whilst negotiating extended plant downtime windows if required.
8) Maintains an ‘open book’ of maintenance work for each value stream that requires plant shut-downs so that all or some of the work can be performed in the event of an unscheduled shutdown. The unscheduled shutdown lists should be prepared, reviewed and updated on a weekly basis.
9) Identifies and obtains all spare parts, service kits and fabrications necessary for each planned task and determines if critical items required are in stock by liaising with the maintenance spares facilitator including any special tools or equipment that may be required.


• Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Special knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics, electronics
• Adequate trade knowledge to be able to accurately estimate labour hours and materials and an ability to be able to visualize the job being performed.
• The ability to read technical and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good P.C skills, especially with office applications such as word and excel.
• Possesses a thorough understanding of work orders, prioritizing and scheduling techniques.
• An ability to understand and advocate safe working practices.
