We are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join a well-known British company that designs, develops and manufactures off-highway machinery/vehicles and capital equipment, primarily for use in construction and agricultural areas.

The exciting role as a Senior Electronics Engineer would involve the design and development of vehicle control systems, including all elements in the project lifecycle – specification of requirements, design of ECUs and comms networks, performance analysis, testing and validation, user interface design, authoring of reports and user manuals, and liaising with internal/external customers and departments as required.

The following skills/experience would be required:
• Degree/HND in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a similar recognised qualification
• Proven industry experience of control systems, analogue and digital circuit design, and system schematic capture
• Experience in MATLAB/Simulink (or other model-based design tools) for developing control system algorithms
• Practical experience of testing, fault finding and validation of electrical circuits
• At least 4 or 5 years spent working within an automotive, machinery, robotics or mechatronics environment
• Ability to mentor and support junior engineers and colleagues, and to lead technical projects

The ideal candidate would have great technical skills in these areas, in addition to a ‘hands-on’ attitude and an enthusiasm for practical electronics engineering and testing. Prior experience working on highly regulated or safety critical projects would be beneficial. Pro-active problem-solving skills, and being self-motivated, whether working independently or within a team, would also be key.

Further desirable skills:
• Programming experience using the C language
• Industry experience in design, development and testing of CANbus systems
• Prior experience with ECUs and comms networks in automotive applications
• An understanding of functional safety issues and safety standards (such as ISO 15998, ISO 26262 or IEC 61508)
• Experience working with drivelines, hydraulic systems and off-highway vehicles

Commutable from Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, North Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham
