SEND Teaching Assistants

We are currently working with a SEND school, who are looking to appoint SEN Teaching Assistants for a variety of day-to-day, short term and long term assignments in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

Special Needs Teaching Assistants support students with Special Educational Needs in the classroom as directed by an SEN teacher (or SENDCo) in order to help pupils succeed with their learning.

It takes a very dedicated and enthusiastic person to work with pupils with these roles. Class sizes can be as small as 4/5 pupils and there is a high ratio of LSA support or it maybe 1:1 support you will offer.

SLD/PMLD schools have pupils with complex needs, there may be pupils who are completely non-verbal and communicate using basic signing tools like Makaton or through a series of lights and clickers. There may be pupils at the high end of the autism spectrum or with Cerebral Palsy. Ability levels can vary considerably. You’ll be working with other professionals within the school, e.g. a Head Teacher, SENDCo, nurse, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist, etc.

Your duties will include:

-helping with pupils’ school work under the supervision of a teacher

-You will be responsible for promoting inclusion, working according to IEPs and advancing learning, allowing the children you will be working with to make positive progress by removing barriers to learning.

-helping pupils increase their confidence, self-esteem and independence

The successful person should:

-Have knowledge/interest and experience working with Autism/ASD, ADHD, EBD, SLD, PMLD

-Be a patient and positive role model for children

-Be able to use positive reinforcement when supporting behaviour difficulties – working with pupils with ADHD this would be an advantage

-Knowledge of BSL, Makaton, Team Teach, SPELL/TEACCH would be an advantage.

Please send your CV to me today if this sounds like a role for you!

We understand the drive and commitment involved in being a teaching assistantand are exceptionally busy in the Lincolnshire area. We have teaching and teaching assistant vacancies across SEND Schools in the area and would love to hear from you if you would like to secure a position or work on a daily basis. We welcome highly experienced and newly qualified teachers and TA’s. In return we will pay you the highest daily rates and really listen to what works for you.
