Prospero Engineering have a fantastic new vacancy for a Buyer within an established global business based in Milton Keynes. The company boasts an excellent working environment and are proud to have excellent staff retention records.

As a Buyer you will be responsible for ensuring an appropriate supplier base to maintain continuity of supply to meet production and development requirements for cost, quality and delivery.

You will have experience for Buying within a Manufacturing/Production environment, Able to read technical drawings and BOM's

Key Responsibilities

• Procurement of all production material and outsource requirements.
• To act as an escalation point for any production/shortages which Materials Handling cannot rectify.
• Selection of suppliers judged to best meet the quality, commercial and supply requirements of the business.
• Improving supplier’s performance for quality and delivery.
• Cost control, cost down and improvement programmes initiated with our suppliers to maximise profit contribution through effective purchasing.
• Establish commercial agreements with our suppliers or protect the interests of the business and to reflect the terms of trade.
• Maintenance of the Company's purchasing database to ensure data accuracy for standard costs, country of origin, purchase price lists and supplier details
• Supplying cost request information to meet customer’s spares requirements
• Provide commercial support to development to procure material in a timely manner.
• Market/commodity reviews to validate sourcing decisions and to identify new opportunities.
• Support the cell manufacturing JIT system through effective supplier and contract/Faxban management, ensuring inventory levels within the supply chain are minimized whilst protecting commercial interests.
• Ensure continuity of supply through risk mitigation.
• Responsible for communicating ECN’s to the supplier base and ensuring all procurement actions are completed.
• Responsible for ensuring supplier relationships are managed in accordance with the company’s values and ethics.
