Aqua-Tech Integration have an exciting and challenging role for a machining based Project Engineer to join a well established engineering company who are market leaders in their field.

Ideal Candidate:

The Project Engineers require a wide range of skills as the role includes engineering, project management and sales related activities. The ideal candidate is both outgoing and friendly whilst being assertive and persuasive and have a strong can-do attitude. They enjoy developing strong relationships with customers, whilst at the same time being capable of influencing decision makers. They will remain optimistic under pressure, and enjoy the variety of challenges that this role brings whilst being decisive and conscientious when making decisions. They work well individually and as part of the team and thrive working in fast paced environments.

The key element to this role is the ability to generate appropriate machining solutions, often working within severe time constraints, that will maximise the success of the project, but that can be prepared in the time scales available. Due to a very wide range of machining activities and the number of variables associated with the nature of insitu work, the candidate must be comfortable dealing with uncertainty, make good judgements based on the information available, and be able to react to, deal with, and accept a high level of change in requirements.

The project engineer is responsible for the delivery of successful projects, within budget and satisfying customers with regard to quality and delivery schedule expectation.

It is envisaged that the post-holder will most influence the delivery of results by:
• Developing positive relationships with customers to facilitate full pricing and likelihood of enquiry conversion
• Manage allocated customer accounts to maximise profit potential
• Having a in depth understanding of machining, insitu machining, the range and capability of the clients equipment, and continue to develop their knowledge and skills in order to create the best possible machining solution
• Prepare attractive proposals, which meet companies profit expectation, using appropriate details to persuade the decision maker, and to minimise commercial risk
• Ensure projects are planned efficiently and appropriately, with regard to budget of project, including preparation of work order card and/or job pack, ensuring projects are sufficiently de-risked in terms of quality, delivery and safety, appropriate to scale and complexity of job
• Ensure effective communication of job requirements, using pre job briefs where required to supervisor and/or operator(s)
• Monitor projects, taking corrective action where required to bring projects back within plan
• Promote continual learning and knowledge sharing between team of engineers and operators, using post job reviews and costings, to improve understanding and confidence, allowing better judgment on future proposals.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and put forward solutions
• Use informal and formal communication with customer, to maximise customer satisfaction and to grow potential for future work
• Maintain effective documentation on existing and previous projects

Skills and Qualifications:

Please note there will be training and ongoing support in this role for candidates lacking in certain areas. However what is essential is the machining knowledge and project management experience.

The ideal candidate will have the following;
Machining Experience (preferably insitu machining experience)
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (HND may be acceptable)
Experience using AutoCAD Inventor (or similar such as solid works)
Experience in selling to customers (or at least interacting with customer)
Experience in project managing projects including pricing of jobs

Remuneration and Benefits
Working hours: 37hr week Monday-Friday
Location: Renfrewshire
Salary: £35,000-£45,000 (dependant on experience)
Car available with review of vehicle after a successful probation.
Company related profit bonus available
Requires drivers licence. Travel to site will be part of the role, however this will rarely involve being away from home overnight
