Job Description:
Our client who is an iconic luxury sports car manufacturer, is currently recruiting for the following role:

Job Purpose:
The role exists to lead the Design and Development of hinges for various programmes. The primary role is to lead and be responsible for the full design specification and compatibility to all system attributes and performance targets as well as creating the 3D CAD geometry. This will involve interaction and co-ordination of both supplier and internal departments to deliver the system within the quality, cost and timing constraints identified within the programme.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
• 3D CAD modelling of all hinge components within the body closures team (door, bonnet, decklid, fuel filler)
• Set objectives and co-ordinate actions to deliver system in line with the programme targets (Cost, Quality, Weight etc.)
• Set functional and performance targets for full system including Legislative, Safety, Electrical, Mechanical.
• Responsible for delivery of design to meet all targets and resolving or escalating any compatibilities between targets.
• Project manage Supplier(s) delivery against their Engineering deliverables to ensure that they meet all agreed targets.
• Own Failure Mode Avoidance activities and ensure that all risks are assessed through DFMEA / recurrence prevention activities and that plans are put in place to mitigate risk at the earliest opportunity.
• Prepare and own project-timing plans for all system Engineering activities e.g. Failure Mode Avoidance Activities, Build support, DVP test plans etc.
• Supervise assigned team members, giving technical direction and workload priorities.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum Degree level in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience gained within automotive industry, preferably with a broad range of experience, particularly within hinge design and delivery.
• Experience in hinge systems is essential including a knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Experience of working in high pressure pre-production and launch situations
• Knowledge of NX or willingness to convert from another CAD system essential
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Good ability to clearly present information to all levels in the organisation.
• Knowledge of the PCS process would be beneficial.
• Knowledge and experience of Failure Mode Avoidance techniques.
• The ideal candidate will be a focused, highly motivated, results orientated individual who works well under pressure and can work to a given deadline.
• Driving licence, Medical clearance to drive company vehicles.
