GPS have an exciting an opportunity for a Shift Technician to join one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of automotive parts. As Shift Technician you will provide technical expertise for key specialist equipment, ensuring performance remains at the required reliability and ensure key statutory requirements are met by the site.


• Patrol key site locations, i.e dust plants to check condition/standard of the equipment and its maintenance
• Complete checks of the waters and air plants
• Initiate corrective actions for abnormalities to minimise lost time
• Provide technical support for loss of service, i.e power cut, gas cut
• Advise and support maintenance teams on vision, robots, PLC’s, general fault finding and to ensure a structural problem/fault finding process is used (written)
• Co-ordinate legislative requirements – pressure vessel inspection, hoists and lifting equipment and dust plant monitoring
• Provide technical expertise & support for the development, introduction maintenance and repair of specialist equipment to achieve optimum running time
• Fault finding, maintaining and repairing equipment including Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and PLC
• Monitor & Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly in terms of quality, uptime and capability to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Provide rapid response to breakdown where local value stream manufacturing teams require assistance
• Prepare reports, analyse data and make recommendations for improving plant operations
• Optimise plant cycle times to maximise output without a detrimental effect on plant integrity
• Communicate regularly with all maintenance personnel
• Coordinate activities of sub-contract personnel on site as and when required
• Maintain high level of 5S within all work areas ensuring daily audits where appropriate are completed


• Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Special knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics, electronics, mechanical, PLC
• Ability to provide rapid response to breakdowns when local teams need assistance
• Relevant experience in a similar industrial environment role
• Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree is desirable
• Knowledge of factory air supply, electrical services, water, fire, emergency procedures, dust plants and EHS procedures

- Salary for the role is circa 39K + Shift supplement
- Shift pattern will be cover 7 days - working 12 hour shifts on a continental pattern of 4 on & 4 off
