Sponsorship Sales Manager
£30,000 - £40,000 + £70-80k OTE + excellent training & progression
North London

This is an amazing opportunity to work as part of a family run business who truly believe in the quality of their technically focused events. They run 6 events per year and are looking for someone to sell sponsorship on their portfolio of technical conferences as well as motivate and drive the performance of a team of exhibition and delegate sales executives. Our client has a small team who are all self-starters, high achievers, keen learners with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm and are looking for a like-minded individual to further drive their success.

Role Responsibilities

- New business development – identifying new prospects for each campaign, engaging the key decision maker, pitching and winning their business, to achieve the target of 50% new business on each event
- Account management – building and maintaining strong relationships with the existing customer base, understanding their evolving business development objectives, and creating new sponsorship opportunities to secure their ongoing business
- Recruitment – recruiting, managing and training a high performing sales team, retaining the top performers and ensuring underperformers are addressed in a timely manner
- Performance management – monitoring the performance of a team of junior sales people, ensuring they are effectively briefed, energised, motivated and equipped to achieve their targets
- People development – carrying out regular sales training, coaching and appraisals to rapidly build up the sales team’s skill-set and mind-set and ensure their ongoing learning and development
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting – providing accurate monthly, quarterly and annual budget and forecast information alongside insightful weekly reports of activity, opportunity and roadblocks
- Market research – carrying out regular product, company, market and competitor research to stay abreast of new developments, new opportunities and new risks in our market niche, and strategically contribute to the development of the business
- Onsite delivery – personally attending each conference to welcome and support sponsors and exhibitors, strengthen the relationship and secure their ongoing repeat business

Person Specification

- 2:1 degree or equivalent or higher in a Technology/Engineering/Business related subject
- 3-4 years’ experience in sponsorship sales in a commercial conference environment
- Strong intellect, with the ability to switch between analytical and creative thinking
- Insightful problem solving; pragmatically anticipating and mitigating risk
- Clear communication; able to inform and influence in both written and verbal form
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to engage and lead team and stakeholders at all levels
- Ambitious and tenacious; able to tolerate short term discomfort for long term reward
