The company are going through a huge growth drive, so it is a great opportunity to be part of something growing.

The role will also involve adhoc project work and process improvement and require to work closely with Senior Operations Managers, as well as the Front Office. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is genuinely passionate not only about Asset Management, but also Operations.

6 month temporary role with the view of potentially going to permanent.

Responsibilities include:

* Equities, Fixed Income Derivatives Trade Support/ Trade Capture - Trade processing - Liaising directly with fund managers and Traders/ Front Office Support - Trade confirmations - Payments - Daily Reconciliation - Liaising with custodians, straight administrators

Summary & Responsibilities:

Global Derivative Services is responsible for all back-office functions that support derivative trading enterprise-wide, including both the General Account and 3rd party funds managed by our client and John Hancock Asset Management. Over $300 billion notional currently being managed across multiple legal entities, segments and portfolios. Instrument types comprised of cleared and over-the-counter swaps, futures, options, fx and the candidate should have working knowledge of each. Daily functions include derivative trade life cycle processing, trade confirmations, reconciliations, OTC and margin settlements, fielding audit inquiries, liaising with Front Office and Solutions Team, collateral management, static data maintenance and reporting.

Reporting to the Head of Investment Operations, the candidate must establish effective working relationships with various business unit managers and traders to ensure a timely and accurate trade life cycle. The candidate must stay current with global regulatory changes as it relates to derivatives reform and provide recommendation for changes that may impact the current internal controls environment. The candidate will interact with the Accounting and Middle Office teams on issues pertaining to valuation and data integrity and will also need the ability to multi-task and deal with competing priorities, as this is a dynamic, fast paced environment in constant change.


* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred or equivalent experience working in a Derivatives back or middle office environment

* Minimum 3 - 5 years Investment/Derivatives industry experience with an emphasis on trade life-cycle and settlements

* Strong analytical skills, high level of accuracy, and excellent attention to detail

* Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments

* Influence and work collaboratively with stakeholders in a sophisticated and demanding business environment

* Strong MS Office skill set and excellent working knowledge of Bloomberg

* Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment


* Develop an understanding of the current derivatives landscape and how global financial reform impacts our firm
