Morson International is assisting with the recruitment for a Financial Controller to cover a 12 month Fixed Term contract. You will be based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, at our clients premises.

This role reports in directly to the Managing Director and Divisional Finance Director. The FC will be the only in house dedicated finance team member so will have oversight of all financial management matters.

This is a hands-on role supporting the current Financial Controller with migration to a new ERP system and then providing maternity cover, managing all aspects of the finance function for an established business that has recently been carved out of a larger parent group. Reporting to the Managing Director as well as the DFD, the role will act as the key finance contact for the new entity and will be pivotal in the establishment of a standalone finance function and in the strategy and growth of the business thereafter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To have ultimate responsibility for accurate accounting records
  • Deliver monthly reporting packs to Head Office
  • Preparation and submission of year end packs for Head Office
  • Submit quarterly VAT returns and other statutory and regulatory reporting
  • Manage the year-end audit as first point of contact
  • Produce annual budget and five year forecast and strategic plan with MD
  • Business partnering across the business and externally
  • Present monthly reports to divisional managers
  • Manage organisation's working capital, monitor KPIs
  • Prepare accurate short term forecasts and variance analysis
  • Prepare internal management accounts
  • Migration to new ERP
  • Multi-Disciplinary, with capacity to cover all aspects of the department
  • Available to attend meetings at other sites
  • Any Ad Hoc reporting tasks requested by Head Office

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven work experience as a financial controller
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate up to Board level
  • Thorough understanding of IFRS 15
  • Fintech/ Software company experience desired
  • Experience in changing ERPs would be beneficial
  • Experience using Epicor/IFS would be ideal


  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or QBE
  • Able to demonstrate past people management
  • Have strong Excel & IT skills
  • Educated to Degree level
