The DevOps Engineer Role…
As a DevOps engineer you will work with the team to develop, release and support great products. You will be working with our data scientists, developers and other specialists to integrate and deploy our product, ensure that features get developed safely, tested thoroughly, deployed quickly and will run smoothly. This role plays a critical part in the success of our products, maintaining our existing high standards and continually looking to raise the bar. The ideal candidate combines strong technical credentials with the ability to inspire and a desire to reinforce our profile as a place of engineering excellence. You will be a natural self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.

We are looking for a fellow software enthusiast who can provide a positive contribution to our engineering team helping us develop and deliver new and innovative Utility analytics products. We are a data science and analytics company aiming to disrupt the energy sector. We are building a broad and complex SaaS platform to deliver our patented machine learning and analytics techniques at scale, and deliver the benefits of this augmented data back to our customers through APIs or web applications.

As a business we try to adopt the latest and greatest technology/techniques to give our engineers a great platform to work with and innovate.

Tech inc. Scala, Akka, Cats and Shapeless, the entire stack runs on AWS.

Key Responsibilities of the DevOps Engineer…
  • Set up and maintain test, UAT and production environments following modern best practices
  • Extend and improve the CI/CD pipeline for our fleet of services
  • Work with developers to create robust, efficient and maintainable services
  • Automate everything!!!
  • Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team environment using agile practices
  • Provide an infrastructure that affords the greatest insight into the service health and provides the appropriate alerting when necessary
  • Provide support for investigating issues across distributed systems
  • Monitor production quality
The Ideal Candidate…
As you can imagine we have a core tech stack that we are ideally looking for, however its more important for us as a business to find someone with the right fundamentals and passion for technology.
  • Proven ability of working in teams in the successful delivery of complex, highly performing and high quality products
  • Deep familiarity with the Linux platform (including user and roles policies for running services)
  • Recognise and promote the virtues of immutable servers
  • Strong knowledge of AWS
  • Infrastructure-as-code, e.g. Terraform and Ansible
  • Knowledge of container technologies (We use Kubernetes and Docker)
  • Build and release management tooling (We use Git, GoCD, Artifactory, SonarQube, Jira and Confluence)
  • Instrumenting applications that allow the greatest insight to running systems (We use Prometheus, ELK, Grafana)
  • Ability to investigate and report on issues affecting running services
