Position: Trainee BI Developer
Location: Exchange Quay, Manchester
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday 8.45am - 5.15pm
Salary: Negotiable

About the role:

We are now seeking for a Trainee BI Developer. The purpose of the role is to develop Business Intelligence Solutions. The Solutions developed by the BI Developer are used to report on and drive business decisions in various departments. Interacting with key stakeholders at all levels of business the role has a strong customer focus and involves data design and modelling. The job-holder is expected to work collaboratively with his or her internal customers to provide solutions that are accurate and have integrity and value to the business.

What you will learn?

- How to code using T-SQL.
- How to develop reports using Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS).
- The fundamentals of how to design and maintain a data warehouse using Kimball methodology.
- How to develop using SQL Server 2014.
- A deep understanding of SIPP's, ISA and dealing accounts.
- How to communicate and obtain requirements from customers.


- Identifying and refining data and reporting requirements from key stakeholders.
- Develop reporting.
- Visualising and reporting data findings creatively in a variety of formats.
- Data extraction from multiple sources for reporting purposes.
- Thinking strategically about uses of data and how data use interacts with data design.
- Performing data studies and data discovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources.

About you:

- Some T-SQL experience would be advantageous.
- Previous experience of working in a financial services or regulated environment would be beneficial.
- Experience or understanding development practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with non-technical team.
- Customer service skills.
- Planning, organisation and time management skills.
