Responsible for creating a culture and environment in which quality assurance, compliance and risks are managed effectively to enable the business to fulfil its mission by meeting and exceeding its goals. The head of quality, compliance and risk role will ensure policies and practices are adopted that support the aim of the business to;

  • Develop and evolve quality assurance, compliance and risk framework
  • Training and education of relevant stakeholders on their quality and risk responsibilities, extending to external stakeholders and influencers to ensure a continuous improvement environment throughout the UK
  • You must remain aware at all times of your responsibilities for your own HSE and for those directly responsible to you
  • Lead on the development and evolution of the quality in partnership with the Commercial and Operational Teams, compliance and risk framework
  • Works with external regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies and where appropriate legislators and translates requirements into policy and process
  • Identify critical business processes and business activities requirement to ensure that risks are minimised
  • Identify risks through measures analysis and a range of scenario related activities, anticipating, assessing the impact of risks and establishing mitigation strategies and control measures to minimise risk
  • Provide timely, robust quality inputs, identifying a wider range of quality challenges and hot spots, providing clear reports on activities, outputs and recommendations for change


To be successful in this role you will be a senior leader within Quality Assurance roles. You will have a proven track record of success from within a high risk, process environment such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Waste Management and other Heavy Engineering sectors. Other criteria will include;

  • Professionally qualified in Quality Assurance and Risk Qualifications
  • Substantial experience and demonstrable success in a similar role
  • Previous experience of waste industry/environmental industry/process industry involving regulatory dialogue
  • Environmental or equivalent degree working toward professional chartered status
  • Lead Auditor certification at all relevant ISO standards (would be looked at fondly)
  • Must have an understanding of, and be fully conversant with, modern approaches to quality, risk and compliance, including enterprise risk approaches
  • Environmental regulatory knowledge and legislation and techniques
  • Knowledge of project management requirements and techniques to deliver projects within the environmental sector
  • Relationship and stakeholder management and encourages collaboration
  • Wide ranging IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word

Job Offer

On offer is an excellent salary package £55,000 - £70,000 DOE + bonus + car
