POSITION: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
HOURS: 36 Hour week (12 hour shifts days and nights)
SALARY: £34,000 - £40,000 including overtime & PPM cover
Responsible for assisting in all machinery, plant and building maintenance.
Considerable emphasis must be placed upon a rapid response to machine breakdowns due to the necessity to minimise delays in the manufacturing process or machine standing time.
To undertake responsibility for the analysis and repair of Mechanical & Electrical maintenance and breakdowns and provide out of hours support when required.
To liaise with internal H&S Advisor to ensure all equipment repairs and the local working environment meets H&S standards.
To demonstrate a right first-time attitude and ensure that any enforced temporary repairs are duly recorded and that the appropriate repairs are completed satisfactorily when scheduled.
Demonstrate good communication skills and have a can-do attitude to the job.
Content of the position:
To repair and maintain all factory equipment efficiently.
To maintain equipment in accordance with agreed schedules.
To ensure the service and work area is kept clean and tidy.
To ensure all H&S, hygiene and quality control procedures are adhered to.
To ensure all admin procedures, factory and machine documentation/drawings are updated, stored and readily available.
To act in accordance with the applicable Health & Safety policies and precautions, with particular regards to the Electrical Security and Safety Regulations.
You will be required to demonstrate a flexible attitude to your day to day duties including cover for your colleagues when they are absent or called away. In addition you may be required to assist in other departments and perform other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time.
Ensuring that machine and ancillary equipment tools are kept and maintained correctly.
The nature of the position means that you will work in an environment with moving machinery and with a constant level of noise while the machines are powered up or running. Protective equipment is supplied to
protect you and those under your supervision under these working conditions.
The company has an H&S policy and safe working procedures in place to protect you while you are in the workplace. You are jointly responsible for H&S of yourself and all employees within the immediate vicinity of your work area and ensuring that you and your colleagues follow these
As a Maintenance Engineer/Electrician you are expected to be self-reliant, able to take decisions quickly on own behalf, and to distinguish situations where problems should be referred to a Departmental or Senior Manager.
You must show an ability to be able to follow internal procedures, written and verbal instructions and be able to communicate machine or breakdown situations effectively to your colleagues.
