I am currently looking to recruit a Health Physicist for an initial 6 months contract based in the North West.

To act as a Health Physicist at the site covering the day to day work demands in a radiological capacity. This will include monitoring people, plant and facilities.

Ongoing projects on the site include the decontamination and decommissioning of plutonium contaminated buildings; land remediation; waste production; and the receipt and disposal of waste. The role will touch on some or all of these areas and will be varied. The individual will be pro-active and flexible and will look to improve and develop the radiological awareness of employees at the site.

You will have a flexible approach to your working hours and be prepared to work closely with the site RPA. In addition to the advisory role you will be expected to audit plant systems, service providers and support the development and implementation of emergency instructions.

Providing day to day Health Physics advice
Providing specialist advice in the production of HAZAN/ HAZOP Assessments
Providing advice to the Duty Manager, where necessary
Development of Radiological improvements
Completion of Dose Estimates
Management of Source Database
Input in to Method Statements, Operator Instructions and Plant Modification documentation

In order to be able to carry out these duties you will need to be medically fit to become a classified radiation worker, if necessary. You must have experience in giving radiological advice on a nuclear licensed site and have significant experience in alpha decommissioning

Essential Skills/ Qualifications
GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)

Desirable Qualifications
NEBOSH General Certificate
Science Degree
