Cooling Project Engineer - Build Support & Current Quality Engineer. The Cooling Systems team is part of the Power Train Systems Engineering group within Powertrain Engineering. The primary purpose of the group is to design Cooling Systems and manage the delivery of all platform programs that have Cooling System content. This position has two core responsibilities for complete cooling systems across a range vehicles.
The successful candidate will support prototype builds, responsible for real time management & containment of build issues and managing a prioritised list of design issues to be resolved in the next engineering development phase. They will also work on current engineering, identifying cooling system related issues causing dissatisfaction to our end customers and opportunities for more efficient or effective design solutions with our suppliers, managing & prioritising current engineering projects by severity & occurrence, applying problem solving process to root cause, contain design issues and validate design solutions.
3 KEY SKILLS:
1. Experience of delivering technical products and/or projects in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
2. Proven technical knowledge related to automotive cooling systems.
3. Mechanical or equivalent and relevant Engineering Degree, or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of automotive cooling systems - circuit components, heat exchangers (air-to-air, water-to-air & water-to-water), fans, pumps, valves, expansion & degas components; Demonstrable ability to work on multiple parallel projects and deliver multiple workstreams at pace; Experience of the automotive or manufacturing industry; Experience of planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support the Cycle Plan programmes using Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS) principles (or similar automotive project tool, e.g. GPDS, PCS, CCDS, etc.); Experience of delivering technical products and projects in an automotive or manufacturing environment; Mechanical or equivalent and relevant Engineering Degree, or equivalent experience; Current & valid UK/EU driving licence.
Formal problem solving training and experience (e.g. 8D, 6sigma, Greenbelt, etc.); Experience of CAD viewer software (UGS Teamcenter Visualization Mockup used in this position) for viewing & validating components in a 3D package space; Experience of delivering technical products through a team, utilising strong people management skills; Formal project management training, qualification or experience; Supplier management to coordinate delivery of component design into Engineering release activity; Experience of building and managing multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments; Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and communicate at all levels.
