Specialist Learning Support Assistant
Salary: £16-20k (pro rata 40 wks), plus pension and performance related pay
Location: Stevenage + working across group sites in North Hertfordshire

We are currently supporting one of the UK's most reputable colleges.
We are looking to recruit a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to offer support to young people who require additional support before progressing to a mainstream course of employment.
Many students have a diagnosis or traits of high functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorder or emotional, behavioural and mental health needs, so experience of supporting students with additional needs is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Additional Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide support for students by implementing an effective range of learning strategies to ensure outstanding learning outcomes
- Support the tutor to deliver consistently good teaching sessions
- Implement a range of strategies to meet the diverse additional learning needs within the cohort
- Support the delivery of an appropriate blend of learning opportunities, making effective use of technology both within the classroom and via online and independent learning
- Act as a key worker to a number of students to support course related, personal and EHCP targets
- Support with transition through liaison with colleges and other external agencies and professionals
- Support with the sourcing, monitoring and review of work experience opportunities for students
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities for employer engagement
- Comply with all aspects of the SEND reforms including the monitoring of Education, health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and contribute to the EHCP annual review process.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required for the Additional Learning Support Coordinator:
- Strong track record of being involved with practitioners delivering teaching and learning with high levels of student success
- Minimum of 2 years' experience supporting students with additional needs including high functioning autism and/or social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Up to date knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety and child protection legislation
- Minimum level 4 qualification or minimum 2 years' experience in a related field
- Level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent
- Driving license and access to a car is desirable, as some travel to different sites is required
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to adopt and use IT systems effectively
