Role: Head of ImagingBanding: 8bDirectorate: Co-Ordinated Surgical DirectorateResponsible to: General ManagerAccountable to: Director Clinical Operations Hours: Full time 37.5 Job Purpose:Lead, develop and maintain a first class service across all imaging modalities.To deputise for the General Manager of Outpatients and Imaging as and when requiredWorking with the Directorate Management Team, capture and plan new service requests, facilitate service performance reviews whilst building and maintaining good relationships with the Divisions.Provide workable solutions to any major problems that arise in the provision of services, owning service escalations, facilitating business continuity planning and managing service improvement initiatives.Create a culture of collaborative partnership working with all internal and external stakeholders so that services are delivered to the highest standards.Work across professional boundaries in order to have a continuous focus on a safety culture.Responsible for the provision of high quality patient care, key performance targets, budgetary management and the achievement of margin improvement targets.To empower and engage staff and clinicians in the delivery of the imaging service, whilst promote the service to our patient and consultant users.Key ResponsibilitiesTake a leadership role in the developing imaging services to a wide range of patients.Deliver recognised best practice care to patients while managing the imaging department.Promote excellent clinical and managerial leadership to ensure the imaging team delivers appropriate and effective treatments to patients.Market, promote and profile the imaging service to all stakeholder groups, and be commercially focused and aware.Positively engage with and empower colleagues to develop their own competence in using different imaging modalities designed to address and promote the needs of people's health and wellbeing.Positively promote a good learning environment within the imaging department, by creating a culture where continuous learning is encouraged and valued.Identify and highlight service developments and evidence based innovations which will benefit the organisation liaising with business development/marketing to ensure appropriate publicity reaches wide forums.Ensure that legislation, policies and procedures are fully understood and correctly applied by self and imaging department staff.Lead on auditing the effectiveness of the service against agreed criteria taking action to address identified deficits.Enable and energise colleagues to take an active role in auditing, and provide regular opportunities for the team to meet to allow pertinent issues to be discussed and recorded.Take account of current trends, developments and other factors that are likely to affect the imaging department's resources and highlight these in appropriate forum.Communicate business decisions in a positive manner in alignment with organisational culture and senior managers' decisions.
