Position Overview:

You will be tasked with introducing new technology into Sussex Healthcare, acting as a 'trusted partner for technology' at Senior Management level and making a contribution to the development of a wider corporate strategy.

You will head up the IT department, which will consist of managing IT departmental budgets, technology budgets, management of teams of technical staff, developers and other IT related teams. The IT Director will also be the critical point of contact for the delivery of service, acting as a point of escalation when necessary.

You will introduce a culture of technology change within the IT department as part of a process of re-aligning technology and IT service delivery. This will involve the delivery of a new IT strategy and technology roadmap which will outline the provision of IT services to internal staff members to support excellent service delivery to the people we support.

As the Director of IT you will need to be able to build strong working relationships with the Senior Leadership and other stakeholders. You will in addition need to be a strong team player, able to get the best of out staff and resources, managing teams during an exciting period of change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic

Create a vision for ICT within the organisation, develop an ICT strategy which identifies the future direction and to identify solutions and opportunities to improve organisational performance. This will be done in collaboration with other members of the Senior Leadership team to ensure that any ICT strategy aligns to the needs of the business in relation to health and social care services.

Project Management

Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities. Prepare and implement project plans to achieve the desired outcomes as well as controlling and managing the project resources and budget.

Analyse the business requirement of all the departments to determine the technology needs.

Provide technical management of an IT operation, ensuring that agreed service levels are met and all relevant procedures are adhered to, this also includes identifying security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data safety.

Manage and negotiate all contracts for ICT services provided by third parties ensuring effective service deliver and that they comply with General Data Protection Regulations.

Leadership

Devising and establishing IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by the CEO, as well as taking responsibility for the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance (including storage and communication of data, voice, test, audio and images) and effective use of IT infrastructure components and monitors their performance.

Budgets

Manage the IT budget in consultation with the CEO and the Leadership Board.

Data Protection

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Computer Misuse Act, The General Data Protection Regulations and Health and Safety Acts (applicable to IT usage) and the new requirements as set out within the GDPR.

Person Specification:

Qualification:

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Vast experience within a similar role
  • Proven Management level experience with the ability to influence direction of key initiatives.
  • Ability to recognise business opportunities and present a clear strategic vision of how technology can be applied to achieve success
  • Developing, implementing and managing strategies and plans aligned to key business areas.
  • Ability to manage change with excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Leading change in an IT environment
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Excellent negotiation skills with internal and external customers
  • Proven track record of managing and motivating staff

Must have a full valid clean driving licence and must own car as you will be required to travel to the various homes/sites owned by Sussex Health Care.
