The Roles

We are seeking new volunteer members to join our experienced Board sub-committees, who in time may wish to progress to members of the Board and therefore have strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

We are seeking candidates with specific skills and strong experience for the following committees:-

Audit & Risk Committee:

Purpose: to support the Board in its responsibilities for ensuring the adequacy of risk management, internal control and governance arrangements. Responsibilities include review and reporting on future risk strategy, risk assessment and management processes, health and safety compliance, safeguarding effectiveness, adequacy of policies and procedures, corporate governance structures, and liaising with the Finance Committee on the effectiveness of internal financial controls.


  • Experience of Internal Audit
  • Ability to apply good questioning skills
  • An understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of effective frameworks for governance, health & safety and safeguarding

Finance Committee:

Purpose: to support and advise the board and executive regarding all aspects of the financial condition of YMCATG. Responsibilities include financial strategy, regulations, policies and procedures, annual budgets, management accounts, investments, taxation and financial implications of capital projects.


  • Financial Management and/or auditing experience
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements e.g. FRS102
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

All play a foundational and vital role in the life of the Association. Committee members bring specific skills and experience which as a whole supports the Board to ensure that it is able to offer vision, leadership, scrutiny and wisdom to the Executive team and more broadly to the life of the Association.

We are particularly keen to hear from potential committee members who would help broaden the diversity of our committees including helping to lower the age and increase the gender demographic.
