Our client is seeking outstanding individuals to join a new greenfield venture. You'll be involved in building new products and technologies to support the Social Innovation business, where new innovations are deployed to address some of society's biggest challenges including decarbonising energy and the implementation of smarter transport systems.

You should be an individual who has a passion for writing code, enjoys tackling problems that are difficult to solve, driven by working as part of small dynamic software engineering teams, is focused on delivering at the highest level of quality, has a meticulous attention to detail, and embraces new technologies, frameworks and development practises with an open mind.



Main Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Be a highly adaptable, versatile and dependable member of a highly agile and dynamic software engineering team.
  • Develop maintainable, high-quality and scalable microservices.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining and efficient and collaborative development team.
  • Apply a test-driven development approach and be happy to work and take responsibility for any stage within the software development life-cycle as required.
  • Work closely with the team's technical and solution leads along with business and partner stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the technical architecture of solutions - technology selection, design and documentation.


Skills & Experience
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Java and Scala. Experience with other compiled languages such as Go, C# and C++ along with interpreted languages such as Python and Java Script would be a distinct advantage.
  • Practical experience developing within a microservices architecture pattern and utilising IoT integration, storage and processing of Big Data, Machine Learning and API development.
  • Extensive Cloud technologies experience (i.e. AWS).
  • Willingness and proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively.
  • Agile background and practitioner (Scrum/Kanban/etc).
  • Test driven development - unit and functional testing.
  • Understanding and practical experience of application and data security and protection (direct experience with DPA and knowledge of GDPR would be advantageous).
  • Outstanding communication ability.
