Senior Biostatistician - Epidemiology- Cambridge - FT contract
About the GroupThe group assesses the burden and aetiology of chronic diseases among populations, integrating principles and procedures underlying epidemiology, genomics and public health, to develop and apply real-world evidence (RWE) with a strong focus on global health.About the RoleThe successful applicant will work on analysing real-world data (RWD) using electronic health records (EHRs). This will include planning and undertaking complex statistical analyses of longitudinal data with repeated measures to assess epidemiological associations between multiple exposures and disease outcomes.Responsibilities: * Provide statistical input into protocols, study reports and papers for publication. * Contribute statistical support to other global health research projects within the group as required; help to develop scientific goals for related projects and coordinate activities and interact with other members of the group so that goals are met * Contribute to publications or disseminate research findings; and contribute to the process of securing funds. * This post provides a unique opportunity to lead large-scale epidemiological studies involving statistical analyses of millions of individuals, in the context of population health and genomics globally. Candidate Profile * You will have extensive experience in data harmonisation and statistical analysis of large-scale RWD from electronic health record databases in the UK informed by an understanding of the structure and format of these databases * A Degree in Medical Statistics, Epidemiology or a related discipline, with sufficient breadth/depth of specialist knowledge in statistics and clinical epidemiology * Substantial experience of conducting statistical analyses with large EHR datasets in the UK e.g. from CPRD, THIN, ResearchOne, QResearch * Substantial experience of conducting statistical analyses with large-scale longitudinal epidemiological data * Substantial experience in data manipulation, curation and merging * Experience of providing statistical input into study protocols including statistical methodology, analysis plans, study design and sample size/power calculations * Ability to report and interpret findings from statistical analyses to a range of audiences * Substantial experience conducting epidemiological analyses in R software * Knowledge and understanding of the structure and format of EHR databases including coding systems used in the UK to record clinical data * Previous experience of writing up statistical methodologies and analyses for reports and publications * Ability to work competently and efficiently to tight deadlines and to troubleshoot problems without continuous supervision * You will be detail oriented and highly organised with the ability to ensure accuracy * Ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously * Strong problem solving, collaboration and communication skills About SRG:SRG is the market leading supplier of Clinical and Drug development recruitment services to the Life Sciences industries.
