Network Build Engineer – Basingstoke - £45,000
This is an exciting opportunity for seasoned network engineers to join an exciting project working for a government client.

The Role
You will be working within a security cleared environment, with the main focus of designing, creating, testing and documenting new and amended specifications. Which will in turn be integrated into a live environment on a mission critical project. As such, when implemented, the designs produced must successfully integrate with other parts of the solution and meet the requirement specification.

This is a perfect role for seasoned network engineers who want to have more of an impact on the solutions they are implementing. It is a great role to bridge the gap between engineering and architecture and can act as a stepping stone into an architect position.

  • Works closely with the architects to understand the designs and give their input towards project plans for small to medium size solutions or partial solutions.
  • Designs small to medium size solutions or partial solutions within an established architecture.
  • Schedules and monitors own work, escalating problems and queries to higher levels to ensure project timescales are met.
  • Contributes to other teams through inputs into team meetings, quality assuring deliverables etc
  • Fluently presents technical information to technical and non-technical audiences both orally and in writing.

The Ideal Candidate
  • A strong background with both Cisco and Juniper equipment.
  • The ability to read, understand and implement low and high level designs.
  • Has written/ amended design work.
  • Collaborated with architects on previous projects.
  • Can produce evidence of how their ideas have influenced the team, or have contributed to other teams.
  • Can communicate their ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Produces maintainable solutions with a low density of defects.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to less skilled colleagues
