Senior Data Developer



Role

Responsible for leading the development and implementation of a new data platform which will be the single source for all analytic and reporting queries. Later, as the platform will be continually enhanced with new internal data assets when they become available and also with data assets from 3rd parties, the jobholder is responsible for the respective development and integration.



Responsibilities
  • Executing against the data management strategy
  • Complying with the Data Reference Architecture, Framework and Standards
  • Analytics - Lead a data development team through performing analysis of large complex applications, and business processes and develop processes where required to support MDM/Big Data implementations. Realisation of IT/Data Roadmaps
  • Integration - Implement best in class data integration routines including data validation and qualitative checks.
  • Monitoring - Focus on identifying the underlying data issues using the right Data Quality tools. To better understand knowledge of customers and how they behave on-line/off-line, and to start to use this data to make better 'data-driven' business decisions.
  • Partnering - Diligently teaming with the infrastructure, network, database, application and business intelligence teams to guarantee high data quality and availability.




Technology
  • Lead the delivery of programmes and projects as well as developing efficient and effective workflows so that the use of data across the organisation increases
  • Lead the analysis of master data requirements, data integration, and performing complex data mapping activities
  • Develop a Data Lake within Hadoop
  • Design ETL workflows that take data from operational systems and populate the data lake
  • Ensuring visibility and traceability of data architecture progress and challenges
  • Developing repeatable approaches to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services
  • Provide information, feedback and mentorship to support technology-related decision making
  • Consult and work with development teams to determine, execute and deliver relevant solutions
  • Act as internal subject matter expert in the evolving landscape of Big Data management
  • Train, coach and support users on environment, tools, data and services
  • Deploy and implement leading-edge analytics solutions including software, end-user tools and other data services




Experience Required
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with upwards of 8 years industry related professional work experience
  • Experience of aspects of the SDLC, in the MDM / Data Quality / Business Analytics space
  • Experience of successfully managing stakeholders
  • Experience with different data architectures
  • Knowledge and experience of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Knowledge and experience of data platforms, such as relational database systems, data warehouse or other OLAP systems
  • Experience in enterprise environments including the Hadoop ecosystem with knowledge of Apache Hive, NoSQL platforms
  • Experience with Operational Processes (capacity Planning, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Control Management) and associated process documentation creation, i.e. Capacity Plans, Runbooks, Escalation plans and other operational documentation
  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment, with constant focus on delivery
  • Experienced with data governance and security
  • Experience in delivering enterprise-level ETL pipelines, data workflows, migrations and lifecycles
  • Experience with design, management, implementation of Backup, Disaster Recovery and/or High Availability solutions
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide alternative solutions to technical problems
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with good exposure to working in a cross-cultural environment and the ability to present comfortably to senior management
  • Fluent knowledge of English, spoken and written. Other language skills (Dutch, German, Spanish, French and Italian) would be a distinct advantage
