An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced critical care nurse to join our senior Band 6 nursing team on the Intensive Care Unit at Southmead Hospital. Located within the vibrant city of Bristol, Southmead Hospital has one of the biggest and busiest Intensive Care Units in the country. Consisting of 48 beds, this state of the art facility offers regional specialities, including trauma, burns and plastics, renal transplant, neuro, vascular and complex elective surgery.This is an opening for a dynamic, forward thinking individual to join our highly focused and talented team who pride themselves on delivering excellent, high quality and safe patient care which is reflected in our national profile.We are looking for an experienced, proactive and confident clinical practitioner who is keen to develop effective leadership skills, assume responsibility and demonstrate a commitment to consistently maintaining high clinical standards. We are fully committed to training and development. The unit has a dedicated education team and supports staff undertaking specialist courses such as ICU, burns and neuro. We offer a structured induction and run a Foundation Programme for new nurses to ICU, supporting them as they join the team. There are two simulation training suites located within the unit. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in teaching nursing staff, both pre and post registration.In return we can give you the opportunity to develop the clinical and leadership skills required to progress your career with our ICU. The successful applicant(s) will normally commence at the minimum of the scale unless they have previous NHS service at the same band. Progression through the scale is by annual increments.
