Consultant Psychiatrist - Intellectual Disability Neasham£100,000 - £130,000 paFull Time / Part TimeWe are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist on behalf of our client who provides care and support adults living with a learning disability or autism in specialist hospitals and residential services throughout the UK.Our client's purpose is to make a positive difference to the people and their families by delivering person-centred health and social care that helps the service users to fulfil the things they want out of life. Our client look's for people who are compassionate, trustworthy and resilient but most importantly, put the service user at the centre of all they do.So what will the job involve?The post holder will be responsible for the provision of psychiatric services to adults with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs. Clinical work will mainly entail comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluations in collaboration with the rest of the multi-disciplinary team that include history taking, mental and physical evaluation, and biopsychosocial formulations.The post-holder will act as Approved Clinician for the hospital and will be expected to have familiarity with the important relevant legislation affecting the care of adults with mental health needs.Other duties include:Diagnostic and treatment reviews and mental and physical treatment administrationPreparation of reports for and attendance at Mental Health Tribunal hearings as appropriate.Physical care in liaison with our attending General PractitionerReview of patients in preparation for CPA reviews and chairing of CPA reviewsContribution of medical opinion by participating in the regular and exceptional MDT meetingsProvision of advice and support on request to other members of the team in issues related to his/her competence and expertiseGood record keeping and communication of results of assessments to colleagues and writing appropriate reportsKeeping correspondence with colleagues such as the referrers and other agencies as requiredTaking an active role in administration and management of the team's clinical work in collaboration with/under the supervision of the service manager.There is a need for a flexible approach to the pattern of working which may change from time to time in line with demands from various areas of the service, developing pathways and service improvement initiatives.Benefits Include,Competitive salary,Generous Mileage allowance,Annual Leave - 30 days (plus 8),Life assurance,Private Medical insurance,Pension scheme.The successful candidate will be based in the North East region and provide service to Hospitals and Care Homes within the region.If you would like to apply for this position, please contact Jody on 01489774218 or email your CV to jody.greaves@appointgroup.co.uk
