Job Summary

Manage the Supply Chain function in the South East to build relationships with the Supply Chain whilst promoting a non-adversarial, team based approach to working. Monitor and benchmark performance of the Supply Chain and encourage the continual improvement of their services as well as developing new ways of working with the Supply Chain to drive costs down whilst maintain quality and performance levels.

You will be reporting to the Business Manager in the South East.

Main Activities:

Develop the Supply Chain strategy in line with the business needs.

Identification of supply chain partners across the companies operating contracts, and negotiation leading to the most beneficial framework and contract agreements.

Manage the Supply Chain process and ensure compliance with the business Procurement and Supply Chain Management process to ensure a consistent approach is maintained.

Manage the approved list of Suppliers.

Build up trust, strong relationships and establish good business links with Key Supply Chain Partners and ensure they are involved in buildability process and planning.

Drive through better ways of working with our Supply Chain and encourage innovations, efficiencies and best practice.

Monitor and Review performance of Supply Chain including benchmarking including accuracy of supplier information.

Review of the Supply Chain Action Plans.

Arrange workshops/ one to one meetings with the Supply Chain as appropriate.

Liaise with the Supply Chain to develop improvement plans.

Undertake audits of Supply Chain

Be actively involved in any supply chain requirements for any future bids.

Drive value creation through collaboration and identification of early supplier engagement on projects.

Arrange and carrying out business to business meetings with designated preferred suppliers biannually.

Support project on conflict resolution and/or intervention, where appropriate.

Develop and promote the Highway`s Preferred Supplier base and ensure appropriate supply chain is in place to meet the business needs.

Promoted and relegate Supply Chain, as appropriate.

Annual Key Trade Review and Gap Analysis as per project needs.

Develop new supply chain framework(s), where appropriate to meet the business needs.

Supplier Development through additional vetting, audits, workshops, meetings, interviews, and improvement plans.

Support, coach, mentor SMEs where there is a business/project need.

Liaise with the other Supply Chain Manager to develop improvements to the process and business needs to ensure a consistent approach across both.

Personal Specification:

Experience and Competencies:

5 years` experience in construction or related industry with a proven track record in Supply Chain Management and driving through change

Excellent communication and IT skills

Understanding of NEC contract

Team player with ability to work on own initiative


CIPS or other relevant professional qualification
