Research Communications Manager Create a world without dementia Our client is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. Position: Research Communications Manager Location: London Contract type: Fixed term; maternity cover Hours: 35 per week Salary: £47,870 per annum (actual) Closing date: 5pm on 15th February 2018 Interview date: Thursday 1st or Tuesday 5th March About the role: The Research Communications Manager will lead on developing and delivering a communications strategy to promote our client's research activity to a wide range of lay and professional audiences including people affected by dementia. Leading a busy research communications team, you will use your understanding of biomedical science and a keen eye for a good story to develop a sustained presence of strong research content across all our communications channels. You will develop and maintain key messages and communications plans to ensure that research is well represented in the organisational strategic communications. Many of their research programmes are delivered in partnership, and a key part of the role is to be able to work collaboratively both internally and externally to ensure joint communications deliver a strong message for our client. Dementia remains a very popular topic in the press. You will play a key role in maintaining our client's reputation as an expert voice when it comes to dementia research. You will ensure the research communications team is trained and able to support research media work by developing and signing off press statements for national circulation and writing articles for trade press. With media training you will act as a spokesperson on research topics in print and broadcast interviews.
