Job Overview
To lead the business intelligence team at Peninsula in the design, development and timely delivery of high-quality BI content such as reports, dashboards and self-service data sets. Managing business-as-usual, strategic and innovation initiatives through a BI roadmap. Using BI as a vehicle to deliver against organisational goals and supporting Peninsula’s move towards a more data driven organisation.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of BI developers, report writers and data analysts.
  • Work with the BI team lead to ensure high quality and availability of data in our Daily and Intraday data repositories.
  • Take responsibility for the on-time delivery of BI content to end users and customers through relevant delivery channels.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand information needs and manage the work required to deliver them.
  • Manage the BI requirements, tasks, team activity and release management through Team Foundation Server.
  • Review the existing BI roadmap and organise into a delivery timeline based on business priorities.
  • Take ownership of the BI landscape and architecture.
  • Provide input for the design of the Daily/Intraday repositories (warehouse), semantic layer (tabular views) and content (reports/dashboards)
  • Manage the rollout of the self-service BI across the organisation as part of the BI roadmap

What you bring to the Team

  • Experience of managing the day-to-day activities of a business intelligence team.
  • Experience of working with the Microsoft BI stack (2014-2016) SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
  • Hands-on experience of querying and working with SQL Server databases versions 2008-2014.
  • Experience of working in an agile environment using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar to manage team activity.
  • An understanding of self-service BI as a concept, knowledge of Power BI will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of using semantic layer (cubes and/or tabular views) to organise business rules.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills including the mentoring of junior members of the BI team.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise stakeholder expectations at all levels ranging from end user up to C-level.
  • An ability to communicate complex technical/database related issues to business users.
  • A collaborative approach to delivery working with various technical and business departments.
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic and flexible approach, as well as the ability to work under pressure.
