Mortgage Arrears Consultant

We are looking for a Mortgage Arrears Consultant to provide excellent customer service and meet our customers’ needs by ensuring the best possible outcomes for borrowers in financial difficulty whilst protecting the financial interests of the Society.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

Working with customers who may be in financial difficulty, to help them remain in their home, whilst protecting the Society’s position.
To oversee the Society’s interest only contact program and assess suitability of repayment strategies. Assist customers who have no repayment strategy in place.
Assisting in other mortgage administration as required by the Customer Support Manager (Mortgages)

Essential criteria for the role are:

GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths & English grade C or above
Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Customer service experience face to face and/or telephone
Experience of resolving telephone queries, and following up calls
Able to do relevant mathematical calculations
Able to communicate clearly and concisely face to face, over the phone and in writing
Able to judge business risks and recognise when to defer decisions
Self-motivated and able to prioritise work to meet service standards
Empathetic and understanding, with good listening skills
Positive and cheerful
Supportive of others in the team

Desirable criteria for the role are:

Experience in mortgage arrears administration or debt counselling
Experience in a similar role in a Bank or Building Society
General understanding of the Financial Services industry

Hours: This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Salary: Starting salary is £18,720 rising to £20,800 once fully competent, plus benefits
