Our Client is a privately owned UK business established in 1962, which supplies fresh products. It is the second-largest processing company in the UK, capable of processing 2 million products per week.

Job Purpose:
To provide accurate and meaningful financial reporting and analysis for the Caistor site to assist the operations team in successfully managing and developing the business. To also assist the Site Accountant create budgets and financial forecasts from which site based targets for cost and performance are generated and used to keep the factory focused on delivering against their KPI's.

Main Responsibilities:
To assist in the preparation of the weekly and monthly Management Accounts with accompanying financial and operational commentary and variance analysis to budget and forecast as required, for review by Site Accountant and General Manager
Preparation of the draft weekly sales reports and stock position.
To prepare additional weekly reporting and analysis as required by the operation to enable effective monitoring and control of key costs (including labour reporting, bill of material wastage reporting and analysis of engineering spend)
To assist in the preparation of monthly departmental reporting for cost centre managers providing them with sufficient insight and understanding of their team’s financial performance
To undertake ad hoc project work as required to improve the reliability and timeliness of information provided to the business
To maintain the sites Energy Compliance Reporting data as required for annual and periodic returns to Head Office
To manage the capital and revenue application approval process and maintain the site tracker vs budget

Financial Governance:
To create and control ledger postings to ensure they are accurate, auditable and have integrity
To reconcile all stock movements weekly understanding significant movements in week and variances and highlighting these to the Site Accountant
To support the operational teams in carrying out periodic stock counts for all categories of stock to ensure that they are performed to a good standard and in line with group/site policy
To reconcile balance sheet accounts on monthly basis, highlighting discrepancies to the Site Accountant
Prepare reporting period control files ensuring that all key schedules are complete and significant balances have appropriate auditable support
Ensure that period end accruals are properly supported and that significant over/under accruals do not build up
Maintain the finance team procedures document ensuring that it is complete and accurate for all procedures
To assist in ensuring that key internal control procedures (eg purchase orders, cash management etc) are robust, properly implemented and adhered to by the business
To challenge existing accounting processes and procedures, identifying areas for improvement in order to ensure an efficient accounting process that is relevant for the current business and compliant with group practice and accounting principles
Regular review of GRNI ledger

Ensure that the Health and Safety Policies, Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to at all times
Ensure that delivery of agreed SLA standards is maintained where appropriate
Participate as necessary in appropriate shifts and on-call duty rotas, if applicable
Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time
The duties of the post and job description will be regularly reviewed by the line manager

Adopt the Continuous Improvement methodology, challenge current working practices
Good presentation skills

Has worked in a reporting and analytical capacity
Able to demonstrate an understanding of working within an FMCG environment
Food industry experience desirable but not essential

CIMA or ACCA recently qualified
IT literate with advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables and basic macros)
