Band 6 – MammographerApplications are invited for a Qualified Mammographers to join the Breast Care Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital, part of Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The requirement for a female to undertake this role is a Genuine Occupational Qualification. The above post is therefore exempt under Section 7(2)(e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.You should have a Degree in Diagnostic Radiology or equivalent with Health Professions Council (HPC) registration also a post graduate qualification or its equivalent in mammography. Excellent communication skills are required, together with a commitment and focus towards customer care. The post is full-time but if part-time applicants would be considered.We are an enthusiastic and friendly team and you will be working with Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners, Health Care Assistants, Radiologists, Breast Clinicians, and the Surgical and administrative teams. Screening is carried out on our two digital mobile units which travel the county of Somerset and in the Breast Care Centre for both screening ladies and symptomatic patients. As the post necessitates travel, the use of a car and a current driving license are essential. This post is full-time but we would consider part-time applications.Somerset Breast Care Centre received over 3,500 2ww referrals from April 2014 – March 2015; has a screening population of 90,000; and diagnoses approximately 400 new cancers each year (screening and symptomatic). We have been fully digital since 2010 and hold an ISAS Accreditation.As the largest acute hospital in Somerset serving a population of over 340,000, we also provide some specialist and tertiary service for the whole of Somerset. The hospital has over 700 beds, 30 wards, 15 operating theatres, a fully equipped diagnostic imaging department and a purpose built cancer treatment centre which includes outpatient, chemotherapy day care, radiotherapy and inpatient facilities. The Trust employs over 4,000 staff.
