The company

My Client is one of the largest manufacturers of baked products in the UK. Based in Leicestershire they have an 80% market share, producing over 40 tonnes per day. They will supply to all the major supermarkets like Morrison’s, Tesco’s, Asda, Mark’s and Spencer’s and many more. With a turnover of more than £250m and growing, they are looking for 2 more Maintenance Engineers to join their fantastic team.

Founded nearly 200 years ago and with over a dozen sites across the Midlands, their Leicester site employs over 700 people across production, engineering and logistics. They also have their product development function based on this site to produce new and exciting recipes. Due to their dominant market position and their continued growth, the business are opening a brand new site to meet the growing number of orders and put production over the 1 million unit mark per day.

The Role

The Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will be required to cover breakdowns and PPM’s across all production lines. Currently they have equipment such as slicers, dicers, conveyors, presses, refrigeration plants and check weighers, rollers, ovens and fully automated packaging lines. 80% of your time will be covering breakdowns and 20% on PPMs. Their target is to minimise the breakdowns to 40% within the next 12 months and be proactive rather than reactive, through an extensive Continuous Improvement and LEAN project that all the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineers will be involved with.

Electrically the successful candidate will be fault finding with a multimeter on electrical system from Electrical drawings, plus fault finding through to inputs and outputs on PLC system. All modifications and coding on PLCs are dealt with by external contactors and are not a prerequisite for candidates. Mechanically the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer will need to be able to strip down and replace components, including bearings, shafts, rollers, gearboxes, cams, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and compressors.

On day one you will be put through any training necessary and an induction will be taken place. After any shadowing and training needed you will then be required to attend any breakdowns and carry out any PPM’s / Tasks delegated to yourself and be able to work off your own initiative.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following:

* Apprentice trained or equivalent (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, etc) in either Mechanical or Electrical
* Must have worked in an automated environment.
* Must be multiskilled with either a Mechanical or Electrical bias.

My client is looking for someone who is willing to dive in and get their hands dirty. If you come from a food background, I would be very keen on talking to you but I will not rule out people from a different industry.

Please get in touch if you need to and contact Danny onor email
