So, what does the role of Perioperative Practitioner (Nurse or ODP) entail?
You’ll be reporting to the Theatre Manager and working as part of a collaborative and positive Theatre Team. You’ll maintain superb communication within the team to ensure that high standards of care are delivered to all patients within the Theatre Suite. Your role will be varied spanning scrubs, anaesthetics and recovery, and you’ll carry out duties that will include but not be limited to:

Preparing an operating theatre / anaesthetic room for surgery, in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies
Ensuring Patient Records are completed timely and accurately
Performing scrub, circulating and / or anaesthetic duties
Running a theatre list without supervision and supervising / mentoring junior staff
Understanding and applying a holistic patient centred care approach, identifying and considering specialist clinical needs
Acting as a preceptor for student ODP’s, learners, junior nurses and HCA’s, where appropriate and participating in teaching within your sphere of knowledge and skill
Ensuring that Clinical Governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice
Organising your own time and taking responsibility for appropriate delegation of staff duties

What do I need in order to be considered for this Perioperative Practitioner (Nurse or ODP) role?

Be a Registered Operating Department Practitioner, or a Registered Nurse with a recognised anaesthetic qualification
High standard of clinical practice with a range of clinical skills, supported by professional competence and knowledge
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to gain the confidence of colleagues and peers
Ability to use evidence based practice to provide high standards of care
Solid knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies such as the Care Quality Commission
Confident, with a proactive work ethic and the ability to thrive under adversity
IT literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Hours of Work: Working full-time hours on a rota covering Monday to Saturday, with theatres usually closing by 9pm. You will also be required to participate with the on-call rota which includes enhanced pay.
