What is the purpose of this role?

Reporting directly into the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for forecasting and monitoring the financial costs for a business wide project which is high on our client's agenda and is the first in the world to deliver a high volume of smart water meters.

Working in a capital project environment (CAPEX), you will ensure that all financial information, governance and performance is reported accurately to the business as well as provide financial reporting to the wider organisation, whilst gaining exposure to all other areas of departments including supporting other capital programmes.

What will this role involve?

The management accountant will work in a team of 3 immediate colleagues and will be responsible for:

Supporting the Finance Manager in providing all financial information for their business area.

Monitoring the forecast and costs of the programme as well as some capital projects within the team.

Ensure SAP is representative of all financial / outcome information.

Responsible for CAPEX reporting and variance analysis.

You will be the central link between the Metering programme and wider finance team, keeping both parties updated regularly.

Supporting quarterly forecasting in line with finance schedules and communicating the key recommendations to the business.

Review month end actuals and forecast from deliverers and challenge data submitted against performance baselines.

Provide analysis of actuals against budget and quarterly baselines.

Ensure month end reporting is completed robustly and in line with central finance timescales.

Support programme managers in seeking funding and financial governance.

What skills are we looking for?

To be considered for this role, you will have gained experience within a strong financial background and will ideally be fully or part CIMA qualified.

Demonstrable experience in variance analysis, reporting and forecasting within a project or CAPEX focussed environment is key!

If you have experience within the manufacturing, construction or utilities industry, this would be highly advantageous and you will have a wealth of financial experience.

Previous practical working knowledge of CAPEX is crucial and you will be meticulous in your approach with a strong attention to detail.

Confidence in liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders is essential as you will be communicating any report analysis.

You must have strong Microsoft office skills, in particular Excel in order to manipulate data effectively
