Pure Healthcare are currently looking for a Senior Nurse to work at a Nursing Home in Gillingham .

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

To ensure timely and effective communication is maintained with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to achieve planned goals.
Support the registered manager in providing leadership, guidance and management to nursing staff in line with company policies and procedures.
Support the registered manager with regular nursing supervision and appraisals in line with company policies and procedures.
Ensure that nursing staff adhere to company policies and procedures.
Be responsible for the immediate management of nursing staff throughout each span of duty.
Support the registered manager in ensuring all staff work within statutory and legal guidelines (GSCC Codes of Conduct for Social Care).
Support the registered manager in ensuring the home meets the requirements of the National Care Standards.
Ensure the safe storage, correct level and issue of drugs in accordance with company and statutory regulations.
Provide support and professional supervision to care staff and nursing staff as appropriate.
Daily supervision of all nursing staff to ensure the delivery of excellent care in a manner that maintains and promotes dignity, privacy, choice, rights, fulfilment and independence.
Organising and planning nursing staff rotas.

Daily Duties:

Assist with the assessment/evaluation, admission, care programme and discharge processes of all residents.
Administer and order medicines as required by the home in accordance with the homes’ policies and procedures.
Work within the NMC codes of conduct and scope of practice and within the homes’ policies and procedures.
Ensure effective communication with relatives and other healthcare professionals.
Ensure confidentiality regarding all aspects of care of the home is maintained.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and staff supervision, training and development activities including induction.
Enable residents to receive appropriate religious, cultural, emotional and psychological support.
Plan, implement and evaluate appropriate care for residents.
Provide ongoing monitoring of the care and service provision.
Take an active role in auditing specific areas of care and contributing to disseminating results and an action plan.
Take responsibility for the formation, implementation and evaluation of person centred care plans and risk assessments.
Participate in the implementation of company and individual home policies and procedures.
Support the registered manager with the assessment of nursing staff competencies.
Take personal responsibility for your own self development and ensuring your knowledge and skills are kept up to date.
Act as a role model for all staff.
Ensure resident orientated service through involvement in yearly care reviews, resident and relatives groups.
Assist in the promotion of a safe, therapeutic, comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Assist with pre-admission assessments.
Promote the home/company through show rounds and enquiries.
Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships between staff, residents and relatives.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Respect the confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act at all times.
Ensure the dignity and respect of every resident is maintained at all times.
Travel as required within the area and other areas within the company for business and training.
This list is not exhaustive and you may need to carry out other duties within the remit of the role.

You will be required to work 40 hours per week which will include alternate weekends and a mixture of management and nursing shifts.

You will be offered a salary up to £34,000.
