Hours Monday to Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm
Friday 8.00am – 1.00pm

AM2PM have a fantastic opportunity for you to join a prestigious, UK leading manufacturer of fasteners at their site in Birmingham City Centre. The long-established Company are looking for a time served Press Tool Designer to join their team.

Overview of the role
Due to the continued success of the company they are looking to extend their design team. As their newest designer, you will be responsible for the design of range of precision high speed progression tools, in a range of presses from 25ton Bruderer’s to a 100-ton Minster Press, running at speeds of up to 450 strokes per minute.

Responsibilities:
Your day to day duties will include but are not limited to: -
• Designing new tools and assembly machinery
• Continuous improvement, efficiency savings/improvements to existing products.
• Assisting in P.F.M.E.A and D.F.M.E.A
• Quotations of new products
• Act on feedback to design department to update technical data
• Problem solving, issues arising from tool debugging
• Required to perform within a team organize work load and have good decision-making skills.
• Undertaking of document control and approval procedures.

Requirements:
Ideally you will have the following key skills and experience:
• Time served, apprentice background
• Conversant with the design of Multi-stage progression tooling.
• Experience of the design of pneumatic special purpose machinery would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Ability to work to automotive T.S.16949 IATF standards.
Ideally you will be familiar with using Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD Mechanical software, and preferably have a Tooling background, but is not essential.
