Summary of Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established commercial and contracts team on a multi-million pound, multi customer, government programme.

Working under the general direction of the commercial manager the successful candidate will be required to manage routine and non-routine contracts and subcontracts of moderate value and complexity through the life cycle of those contracts. This will include input into the end to end bidding process, (which may include managing a competitive pricing process), managing contract acceptance and contract change during delivery of the contract and the administration of contract closure.

The role requires the candidate to work closely with the project management and finance teams and to have a good appreciation of the functional responsibilities of those teams.

The role will also require the candidate to act as the day to day supply chain lead which will involve engaging with strategic partners on the programme and supporting the commercial manager in developing the overall supply chain strategy.

Main Duties

•Development of standard and innovative contracts and subcontracts in response to Invitations to Quote (ITQ).
•Negotiation of non-standard contract agreements and the processing of contract change notifications.
•Identification and management of programme risks and opportunities, working collaboratively with customer base and the project management and finance teams.
•Effective management of contract data and information to demonstrate compliance to Raytheon policy and contractual obligations.
•To support the commercial manager in developing functional plans at programme level and producing business cases for review at senior management level.
•To support the commercial manager in strategic partner relationship management initiatives.

Other duties

•To act, as required by the commercial manager, as the functional representative at customer business reviews and internal management reviews.
•To participates in cross-functional process improvement activity.
•To administrate complex supplier due diligence activity.

Required Skills and experience

•The candidate must have;
◦experience working in a busy commercial, contracts, subcontracts or procurement function ideally on UK Government contracts.
◦a good understanding of the application of UK Contract Law.
◦have experience drafting and negotiating subcontract contracts > £1m.
◦experience acting as a principle supplier manager for major OEMs and have led senior supplier reviews.
◦experience of managing Request For Proposals (RFP’s), identifying and challenging cost models, risk profiles and through negotiation driving value for money from those proposals.

Desirable skills

•A good understanding of the application of UK law relating to IT services and products and applicable licensing.
•Experience in acting as the principle functional lead and managing the end to end process of Tenders > £1m EU regulations.
•Have experience of Project Management Toolsets including Estimate At Completion process and Earned Value Management.
•Have previously held Develop Vetting Clearance.
•Have experience working within 6 Sigma process improvement team.


•Degree in a business management or related subject and / or MCIPS or other similar professional qualification
